A panel of judges from CNY Arts has selected artwork by nine faculty and staff members for inclusion in the communitywide On My Own Time exhibition this fall at the Everson Museum of Art in downtown Syracuse.

On My Own Time is a community arts program begun in 1974 by CNY Arts (then the Cultural Resources Council) and the Everson to connect the business and arts communities and to support employers eager to spotlight and nurture the artistic impulses of their workforce. Syracuse University is a longtime sponsor of On My Own Time.

This spring, faculty and staff artists were invited to submit their creations—photos, paintings, sculpture, jewelry and other pieces of art—for the University’s in-house On My Own Time exhibition April 29-May 15 in the Noble Room at Hendricks Chapel and for consideration in the larger, communitywide exhibition at the Everson. Sixty pieces were submitted.

The pieces selected by the CNY Arts judges for the fall exhibition are by Richard Breyer (Newhouse School), Christian Day (College of Law), Robert Heaphy (Campus Planning, Design and Construction), Kevin Morrow (Marketing and Communications), Kelly Parker (Syracuse University Libraries), Trudi Porter (Enterprise Applications Systems), Scott Samson (College of Arts and Sciences), Joseph Stoll (Maxwell School) and Margaret Voss (Falk College).

In addition, Porter’s piece, called “Solitude,” and Breyer’s, “Life Changes,” will be photographed and included in the Everson exhibition catalog.

Another work—”The Ndege” by Lisa Marie Kennedy (Falk College)—was voted Most Popular by those visiting the University exhibition at Hendricks Chapel.

The Everson exhibition—featuring art selected from participating worksites across Central New York—opens Oct. 12 and continues through Nov. 17. The exhibition is open to the public during regular museum hours. An artists’ reception will take place Friday, Oct. 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the museum.
