Syracuse Stage
will host general auditions for children for two roles in the 2019/2020 season holiday show, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” on Thursday, April 25, 4 to 7 p.m. by appointment only, at the Syracuse Stage/Syracuse University Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St. Callbacks will be Saturday, April 27, 9 to 11 a.m., if needed.
“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” is Syracuse Stage’s annual holiday production. Co-produced with the Syracuse University Department of Drama, the show will feature spectacular flying effects, sumptuous costumes and lavish sets as befit this beloved family favorite. The story of how young Belle helps the Beast break an evil spell and resume his former state as a prince is adored the world over with its timeless theme of the importance of knowing how to love and be loved.
Audition Information
Chip: An enchanted teacup and Mrs. Potts’ darling little boy. He is innocent, playful and bright-eyed. Auditioners must be no older than 13 years of age by Dec. 31 and convincingly play an 8- to 12-year-old. Vocal range between F5 and A3. Syracuse Stage is considering both boys and girls for the role of Chip.

All ethnicities and genders are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning should prepare 32 bars of a song of their choice and sides that will be provided when audition appointments are made.
Auditioners should note that “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” includes a significant number of morning student matinees in addition to evening performances. Children must be available for rehearsals beginning Oct. 22 through the end of the show’s run on Jan. 5, 2020.
