Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse Hillel and Chabad at Syracuse University Invite Community Members to Vigil

We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the horrific shooting in Pittsburgh yesterday at the Tree of Life Congregation.

Our collective sympathies are extended to the families, friends and all those impacted by this horrendous anti-Semitic act. There is absolutely no place in our society for hatred and bigotry. We are bound together not only in our grief but also in our response.

As partners in service to our Jewish community at Syracuse University, together we will host a vigil at 6 p.m. tonight (Sunday, October 28th) on the steps of Hendricks Chapel. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

We understand this is a very difficult time for many in our community and as such, want to remind you of the many services and resources available.

  • Students seeking support can contact the Counseling Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 315.443.4715.
  • Additional services are provided by the Office of Student Assistance, Monday through Friday, by calling 315.443.4357.
  • Hendricks Chapel is also available by calling 315.443.2901, or visiting their website for contact information for each chaplaincy.
  • Additional support is available through Syracuse Hillel by calling 315.422.5082 or through the Chabad at Syracuse University at 917.602.3548.

With gratitude,
