Resources Available to the Community

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

An important national dialogue about sexual assault and sexual harassment, and in particular the role we each play in combatting their prevalence, is currently underway. On television, on social media and in casual conversations around our campus community, more and more people are standing up to say enough is enough. While this discussion is good, necessary and critically important, members of our community who have experienced sexual and relationship violence are especially impacted by what they hear, see and read.

That is why we are writing today: To remind our campus community members, particularly survivors of sexual and relationship violence, that there is a vast network of resources available. These resources span the Counseling Center’s Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Team; the Office of Student Assistance; the Office of Health Promotion; Equal Opportunity, Inclusion and Resolution Services (EOIRS); the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities; and the Department of Public Safety. Though each office fulfills different roles within that robust network, they all provide important services in addressing sexual and relationship violence on campus.

Whether seeking assistance or services, aiming to raise awareness or considering reporting options, please know that you can always reach out to any of the following resources:

  • Students seeking support for sexual assault, harassment, relationship violence or stalking can contact the Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Team at the Counseling Center at 315.443.4715 for 24/7 confidential support, advocacy and discussion of reporting options.
  • Additional services are provided by the Office of Student Assistance, Monday through Friday, by calling 315.443.4357.
  • For faculty and staff, assistance is available through Carebridge, the University’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. Trained clinicians are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be reached at 800.437.0911.
  • Additional support is available at Hendricks Chapel; call 315.443.2901 or visit the chapel website for chaplaincy contact information.
  • Vera House has a 24-hour Crisis & Support Line, 315.468.3260, as well as support services and programs.

As a University, we continue to focus on creating a respectful, supportive and empowering campus community. But, we can all play an immediate role in standing up against sexual and relationship violence and supporting survivors. We ask that you continue to be a part of this important work.

Sincerely,

Rob Hradsky, Dean of Students

Sheila Johnson, Chief Title IX Officer
