GET Immersion Experience offers internships to full-time students

The Global Enterprise Technology Immersion Experience offers students an eight-month, well-paid internship in a professional workplace while they continue their academic coursework as full-time students.

getThese students, who represent a wide range of academic disciplines, build their resumes and professional networks with some of the world’s leading global companies, including JPMorgan Chase, General Electric, Ernst & Young and Nationwide.

Students interested in learning how to apply for the GET Immersion Experience are invited to attend one of four upcoming information sessions:

  • 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, in 347 Hinds Hall
  • 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, in 4-206K Sci-Tech
  • 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Milton Room, Whitman School of Management

The GET Immersion Experience was developed and pioneered as part of the JPMorgan Chase & Co.-Syracuse University collaboration, and is open to students from any university in any discipline of study.

Unlike most typical semester or summer internships that end just as students begin to understand and integrate learning from school into the workplace, the GET Immersion Experience is much longer, spanning the entire spring semester and summer. This design enables students to apply lessons in the classroom to challenges in the internship experience, allowing plenty of time for students to become comfortable with the environment and the technology.

From January through August, Immersion Experience students work on an IT team at a large, global company to help design, develop and support the applications that give these businesses a competitive edge. Interns earn competitive pay and academic credit, so that they stay on track to graduate on time.

Students interact with a mentor who is assigned to them and who helps them develop and refine their ideas. The mentors and other employees at the company help students expand their professional network, which assists in securing full-time employment after graduation.
