Could the Jackson/Timberlake Super Bowl Incident Ever Happen Again?

The Super Bowl is one of the most watched events across the country. While most tune in for the game, others are in it for the commercials and halftime show. This was shaken up in 2004, with the infamous wardrobe mistake during a performance with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.  Billboard asks if such an escapade could happen again. Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at the Newhouse School, answered .

“I think what happened with the NFL between 2004 and now, what happened with issues of indecency and hyper-sexualized, vulgar things outside of Hollywood, the Access Hollywood tape,” he said. “If this were to happen this year you would need a scorecard to keep everyone straight on the field, but also to keep the arguments straight.”
