The Syracuse University community is invited to join Syracuse University Ambulance (SUA) in the celebration of National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, beginning today, Monday, Nov. 13.

National Collegiate EMS Week is modeled after National EMS Week, an event sponsored by the American College of Emergency Physicians and endorsed by the United States Congress. EMS Week is a valuable way for campus-based EMS organizations to highlight their services and provide education to the community.

On Monday, SUA members offered vitals screenings in the Schine Student Center Atrium. Events for the rest of the week include:

Tuesday, Nov. 14
SUA will co-host an American Red Cross Blood Drive with Phi Delta Epsilon pre-medical fraternity from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Panasci Lounge in the Schine Student Center.

Wednesday, Nov. 15
SUA will present an Ambulance Exposition on the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle from noon-1 p.m. This event will showcase one of SUA’s ambulances. The vehicle will be open for walkthroughs, and SUA members will be on hand to answer questions.

Thursday, Nov. 16
Members will spend time with children at the Early Education Child Care Center on South Campus and introduce them to an ambulance.

Syracuse University Ambulance was founded in 1973, and today has nearly 70 members from a broad range of schools, colleges and disciplines. “It is one of the most rewarding experiences you can find on campus,” says Megan Panebianco, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences and special events supervisor for SUA.
