Joe Turek’s “a white male”
Joe Turek G’18, a graduate studio arts student in the School of Art in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was selected to be an exhibiting artist at Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair Nov. 9-12 at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Brooklyn.
The Other Art Fair is the leading artist fair to discover and buy art direct from the best emerging artistic talent. The 2017 fair includes 130 artists who were chosen by a selection committee of art experts.

Turek received a bachelor of fine arts and art education certification to teach high school art from Clarke University. He taught in the Midwest for four years before temporarily leaving the profession to pursue a master of fine arts degree from the School of Art. In addition to his creative output as an artist, he is the assistant director of Talent Agency Teen Portfolio Development Inc., where he teaches art to inner-city Syracuse teens as well as completing other administrative tasks for the nonprofit. In the spring, he will be one of the School of Art’s Turner Semester artists in residence in Los Angeles. His current body of work is about his subjects’ loss of control.
