Tony Romo’s Big Move: A Good Idea?
This offseason, former Dallas quarterback Tony Romo moved on from the field to take a job in the broadcast booth. His work has been met with praise from many across the sporting world but was this a smart move for the play-caller to make? Newhouse Director of Sports Media Olivia Stomski was asked about this in an interview for USA Today, and explained that Romo may even be changing how games are called.
“I think that as our society, our modes of communication and the way we socialize with each other is different,” she said. “We used to have a very polite way of broadcasting in sports. I talk, you talk, I talk, you talk. But now, we have the influx of podcasts with us talking over each other and we’re getting excited about something. People talking over each now gives us a feeling of excitement and enthusiasm.”
