The Syracuse University Alumni Association has invited the Class of 2017 to participate in a series of “Welcome to the City” events set to take place across the country over the next few months.
These events, co-hosted by local alumni clubs and the Generation Orange Leadership Council, will introduce these new members of the alumni family to their new cities while allowing alumni who call those cities home to extend a warm welcome to the Class of 2017.
The “Welcome to the City” events kicked off recently in Philadelphia. Additional gatherings are planned for Washington, D.C. (June 8), New York (June 8), Los Angeles (June 10), Boston (June 15), Westchester and Fairfield Counties (June 15) and Atlanta (July 27).
“The Welcome to the City events are a great way for 2017 graduates to connect with fellow alumni where they live,” says Megan DiDomenico, assistant director of lifelong learning in the Office of Alumni Engagement.
“Whether they are new to a city or originally from that area, our most recent graduates will receive great advice and learn how to stay involved with Syracuse University,” DiDomenico adds.
Following each event, participants will receive a “Welcome to the City” guide written by members of the Generation Orange Leadership Council, containing information on apartment hunting, restaurants, places to visit and things to do in their new city.
The Generation Orange Leadership Council is a group of motivated young alumni who nurture relationships and encourage lifelong engagement among Syracuse University’s graduates of the past decade.
