In November 2016, Vice Chancellor and Provost Michele G. Wheatly announced the creation of the Faculty Salary Review Committee. The 18-member committee includes tenured faculty from each of the University’s schools and colleges, two non-tenure-track faculty members and representatives from the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, the Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Provost.
Since December, the committee has been working to review salary data of full-time faculty, including average faculty salaries for each school and college by rank, gender, and race and ethnicity as well as comparative institutional data.
The committee has identified sets of peer and aspirational institutions for comparison, has preliminary statistical analyses of factors that correlate with salaries and is preparing a report that summarizes its findings and recommendations. The committee will continue working into the summer and fall and expects to release a report by Oct. 1.
