On Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Onondaga Community College, college students from the surrounding area will come together for the Tri-State Diversity Council’s Upstate New York College Diversity Summit. The summit, “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders,” focuses on developing student leadership and enhancing cultural competencies. The one-day event is free for students and includes transportation, brunch and event materials.
“We are excited to bring a group of student representatives to this year’s summit,” says James K. Duah-Agyeman, director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. “The students will have a wonderful opportunity to connect with student leaders from other colleges in the area, as well as engage in a day of learning, development and networking that will enhance their skills and competencies.”
During the summit, students will participate in a series of workshops, as well as connect with representatives from companies and organizations in the area to discuss internship and part-time employment opportunities. Students will also hear from keynote speaker Ronald Martin, host and managing editor of News One Now.
SU students interested in attending must complete the online registration form by Monday, March 27. Bus transportation on April 1 will be leaving from the Schine Student Center at 8 a.m. and departing Onondaga Community College at 3 p.m. to return to campus.
