Syracuse University Ranked One of the Best Financial Literacy Programs in Nation

Syracuse University’s Financial Literacy program has been named one of the best in the nation by LendEDU. Syracuse ranked #3 in the Top 50 College Financial Literacy Programs by the company that provides an online marketplace for student loans and student loan refinancing. The rankings are determined through a scoring system that incorporates the number of workshops and resources available, access to one-on-one financial consultation, and incentivizing programs available.

“The work done by Financial Literacy Coordinator Derek Brainard and the financial literacy team reflects our ongoing commitment to students and their success, both during and after college,” says Interim Senior Associate Vice President of Enrollment and the Student Experience Ryan Williams. “I’m proud of this accomplishment and impressed by the passion that the financial literacy group shows every day in helping our students take steps toward financial independence.”

The office was recognized for two programs specifically: the Money Awareness Program and the Financial Coaching Service, which both give SU students access to free financial wellness coaching. Any student can email the word “Coach” to FinLit@syr.edu and schedule a session to review their financial picture and set financial goals. The service has been in high demand since its inception last year.

Students can read more about both programs, request a workshop or learn about mastering their finances at the financial literacy website.
