Students who are seeking housing through Syracuse University for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters are reminded of the start of the Housing Lottery after spring break.
The Housing Lottery guides students through several rounds in selecting a room or apartment for the coming academic year. The goal is to distribute rooms fairly, within the limits of available resources.
“Adhering to deadlines is of the utmost importance,” says Eileen Simmons, director of housing. “We’ll be spreading the word in a number of ways to make sure people know what options they have available, and the time frame in which they must act. Our biggest piece of advice is for students to have a few options in mind in terms of residence halls and room styles, including open/split doubles, suites and two- and three-bedroom apartments on South Campus.”
To qualify for full participation in the housing lottery, students must meet four conditions:
1) They must be a spring 2017 full-time University housing resident. Spring 2017 participants in SU Abroad/COOP/Internship programs and new students as of fall 2017 may also take part if they meet certain eligibility requirements as listed on the Syracuse University Housing website.
2) An advance housing payment must be made to your MYSLICE Bursar Account.
3) You must abide by the terms and conditions of student housing.
4) You must not have a room assignment from a previous round.

“Students may be pleased to know that the Sheraton University is also an option for housing this upcoming semester,” says Jamie Cyr, director of Auxiliary Services. “It’s all about student demand. Students enjoyed the experience. We are making this option available once again.”
While selecting a residence hall, room or roommate may be a daunting decision, students and parents are reminded that there is plenty of help available. “We want to help our students,” says Simmons. “If they have questions about the process or concerns they want to voice, we are here to help.”
