Syracuse University has announced the appointment of Siham Doughman as the new University Registrar, following a nationwide search. She brings more than 15 years of professional and leadership experience to campus, having previously held the same position at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU).

Jeffrey M. Stanton, associate provost of academic affairs, says Doughman’s appointment signals a new chapter in the life of the University.

“I am excited for Siham to join our team,” he says. “She is an experienced, strategic and visionary leader, with a proven track record in outcomes-based leadership. She is committed to the highest standards of customer service, accuracy, security, privacy and compliance.”

Doughman will manage the staff and operations of the Office of the Registrar, while overseeing academic records and regulations, grading, degree and enrollment verification, transcripts, diplomas, class and classroom scheduling and course catalogs.

She also will spearhead major development and change initiatives involving people, policies, practices, data and systems. Much of this work will be done in tandem with leaders of the University’s 11 academic schools and colleges, Information Technology Services, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Enrollment Management and the University Senate.

“I am honored and humbled to serve as the University Registrar,” Doughman says. “By working closely with my new team and the Syracuse community, I hope to streamline processes and identify areas of opportunity in tracking records and registration, while guiding the advising and curriculum development process. I seek to implement policies that support our educational philosophy.”

At SCSU, Doughman led a 19-person office that served approximately 10,500 students and 800 full- and part-time faculty members. In addition to managing compliance, policy and procedure and departmental workflows, she led multiple campuswide projects. They included automating processes and services; scanning student records; and implementing a comprehensive academic advising, transfer articulation and degree audit solution to help students graduate on time.

She also has served as associate director of registrar services at Laureate International Universities, the registrar of the New England Institute of Art, an assistant professor and coordinator of management information systems at Amman University (Jordan) and the graduate programs manager of the School of Business Administration at American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

Doughman earned an M.B.A. in management information systems from Yarmouk University (Jordan) and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University.
