SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

National and local coverage of U.S. Senator Schumer meeting with family members of the victims of the Pan Am 103 bombing and the push for investigation into motives contributing to the release of convicted bomber Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi included articles in the Post-Standard and Utica Observer-Dispatch and reports by MSNBC, WNBC (New York City), WHEC (Rochester, N.Y.), CNY Central and WSYR-TV (view video clips).

Syracuse.com and CNY Central stories reported on the Commercialization Assistance Program awards announced yesterday by the SyracuseCoE at SU’s Green Data Center on South Campus.

The Midwest Book Review included a brief review of “The Misadventures of Marvin,” published by SU Press and written by Marvin Druger, College of Arts and Sciences professor emeritus of biology and science education.

FACULTY QUOTES

Mehrzad Boroujerdi, director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and The College of Arts and Sciences, is quoted in a Reuters article on Iran’s president.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law and Whitman School of Management, authored a column in Tax.com about historically declining federal tax burdens on median-income households, relative to the rising federal debt.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Macleans article on reasons for the ending of the “Larry King Live” show on CNN and in a Vancouver Sun story on the cable TV show, “Mad Men.”

Michael Barkun, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Salon story about the top 10 conspiracies, as fueled by the Internet.
