SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

The Post-Standard, CNY Central and WAER reported on the appearance by alumnus and Detroit mayor Dave Bing as part of Whitman Day.

The Post-Standard, WSYR-AM and WHEC-TV in Rochester reported on the Distracted Driving Demonstration project to be held at the Schine Student Center this afternoon. U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Congressman Dan Maffei and New York State Governor David Paterson are expected to attend.

The Post-Standard features the works of the Syracuse Poster Project, which includes 15 posters created by a class of advanced illustration students taught by Roger DeMuth, associate professor in SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, and one supplemental poster created by Eric Johanni, a graduate student in printmaking.

FACULTY QUOTES

Rick Burton, David B. Falk Professor of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology, is quoted in a CBS News story on the new Nike ad featuring Tiger Woods and the voice of his father.

William Banks, Board of Advisors Distinguished Professor and director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism in the College of Law and the Maxwell School, spoke with CBS radio (listen to clip) about Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

Leonard Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, appeared on CNBC’s “Kudlow Report” to discuss value-added taxes.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted by MTV in a story on Ellen DeGeneres’ “American Idol” performance. He is also quoted in Parade and in the Denver Post on Jesse James’ future.
