NBA sports agent and Syracuse University trustee David B. Falk ’72 will sign copies of his new book, “The Bald Truth: Secrets of Success from the Locker Room to the Boardroom” (Pocket, 2009), during the SU Sport Management Club’s Fourth Annual Charity Sports Auction Thursday, April 2, in the Carrier Dome. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

In April 2008, Falk and his wife, Rhonda S. Falk ’74, made a $5 million gift to Syracuse University to establish the David B. Falk Center for Sport Management, an interdisciplinary research center that will be the focal point of the Department of Sport Management in SU’s College of Human Ecology. The center will prepare graduates to enter the sports industry and student-athletes to manage realities of professional sports through life-skills training.

In “The Bald Truth,” Falk shares captivating insider details of how he negotiated lucrative contracts, learned from his mistakes, and branded and marketed not only the greatest basketball players in history but also other elite athletes and coaches. Falk’s client list includes a generation of NBA stars such as Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Alonzo Mourning, Allen Iverson and John Stockton.

The Fourth Annual Charity Sports Auction in the Carrier Dome starts at 5:30 p.m. and includes the Jreck Subs Distinguished Lecture by former major league pitcher Jim Abbott and the presentation of the Perseverance in Sport Award to Adam Bender, an 8-year-old athlete who excels at multiple sports despite the loss of one leg. More than 400 items will be available for bid. The Sport Management Club is a student-run organization in the SU College of Human Ecology‘s Department of Sport Management. Since its inception, the club has participated in numerous community service efforts and raised more than $50,000 for local charities. Beneficiaries of this year’s auction event are the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Upstate and the Sport Management Club.
