Several hundred Syracuse University alumni; friends; community members; high school students; and SU students, faculty and staff participated in the Celebration of the Life Sciences at Syracuse University Nov. 6 and 7. The celebration included a series of events culminating in a ceremony to dedicate the new Life Sciences Complex and a keynote address by one of the nation’s foremost scientists — J. Craig Venter, a pioneer in decoding the human genome.
“In Praise of Science,” a new work by Robert Ward, was commissioned for the dedication by The College of Arts and Sciences and featured soprano Laura Enslin and the 35-piece SU Brass Ensemble, directed by James T. Spencer.
