The Center for Health and Behavior (CHB) has established the Stats Clinic, a pilot project to aid investigators seeking external funding for health and behavior research and who are in need of brief statistical consultation. The secondary purpose of the clinic is to advance health and behavior research more broadly. The newest addition to the CHB’s portfolio of services for researchers, the new initiative will be held during the Fall 2008 semester on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.

Beginning this Friday, Sept. 12, and continuing throughout the semester, the clinic will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Allport Room (Room 530C) of Huntington Hall. Members of the University community may attend the clinic as researchers seeking consultation or observers with an interest in data management and analysis as it pertains to health and behavior research.

For those requesting consultation, pre-registration is required and can be completed online at http://chb.syr.edu/statsclinic08.php. Appointments will be made in 15 minute modules. Anyone interested in observing the clinic may arrive on time to listen to the consultations.

The CHB is a University-wide center that facilitates and encourages research on the behavioral and psychosocial aspects of health, including topics such as the health effects of aging, alcohol use, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, smoking and stress. Scientists in the center often develop and evaluate programs to promote health in children, adolescents, college students, adults and families.
