New staff members join New York State Science and Technology Law CenterMarch 31, 2008Jaclyn D. Grossojgrosso@law.syr.edu

The New York State Science and Technology Law Center (NYS STLC) at Syracuse University College of Law has announced the appointment of two associate directors, H. Hubert Yang and Molly C. Zimmermann, who will lead and direct the research, administrative and other grant-related activities of the NYS STLC. Now in its fourth year, the NYS STLC advises the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation, Centers for Advanced Technology, Strategically Targeted Academic Research Centers, Advanced Research Centers, Centers of Excellence and other academic institutions on technology-related legal issues, such as the protection and commercialization of intellectual property, technology transfer practices, patents, copyright and trademark law, and licensing agreements.

Prior to joining the NYS STLC, Yang was an associate in the Washington, D.C., law office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and the Pittsburgh law office of Jones Day. He also has worked as a staffer for U.S. Rep. Robert E. Wise Jr. (WV-2d), and interned for the Hon. Joseph R. Goodwin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Hubert holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Zimmermann most recently worked at SUNY Upstate Medical University in the SUNY Office of Legal Affairs, where she was responsible for academic and personnel-related legal issues. She has also worked for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp., providing legal counsel in the area of mental health and disability law. She received a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and a J.D. from the University at Buffalo College of Law.

In addition, the NYS STLC has made major changes to the design and content of its website and Innovation e-Review newsletter to make these resources more user-friendly and useful. Both the website and newsletter are available at http://nysstlc.syr.edu.
