Whitman’s Panasci Business Plan Competition open for 2008December 12, 2007Amy Schmitzaemehrin@syr.edu

The Falcone Center and the Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University are accepting submissions for the 2008 Panasci Business Plan Competition, which awards $40,000 in prize money and other recognitions to top teams. The competition is open to all SU and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students from any major, undergraduate or graduate. The competition will take place April 18-19, 2008.

The Panasci Competition will showcase individual and group student business plans and innovative ideas. The competition spans four months and begins Dec. 14, which is when student team “Intent to Compete” forms are due. After registering, students will have the opportunity to work with Whitman faculty in the Business Plan Laboratory each week to develop and perfect their business plan. In early April, 16 semi-finalists will be selected to present their business plans to a distinguished panel of judges on April 18. Four finalists will then be selected for the final competition on April 19.

“Year after year, the Panasci competition has revealed the excellence and entrepreneurial spirit of our students across the Syracuse campus,” says Michael Morris, the Chris J. Witting Chair in Entrepreneurship. “Whitman faculty and our national panel of distinguished judges are continually impressed with the creative, innovative and applicable ideas of the competitors.”
