The Protestant Campus Ministry at Syracuse University’s Hendricks Chapel will focus on wellness with two events Feb. 25-26.

The Protestant Service of Worship, held Sunday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. in Hendricks Chapel, will feature a guest sermon by Lisa Thomas, R.N., on “Showing Up: Focusing Upon Working and Surviving in a World That is Not Always Fair.” A luncheon will follow the worship.

On Monday, Feb. 26, at noon, Thomas will discuss “Gardening 101: Sowing a Balanced Life” during a brown bag lunch in the Hendricks Chapel Noble Room. Thomas will talk about how to destress on an ongoing basis and share three things that give “the most bang for your balance buck.” Participants should bring their lunch.

Both events are free and open to the public; parking is available in the University’s visitor pay lots.

Thomas, a graduate of Ohio State University, has worked in various positions in the nursing field, including home care and parish nursing. She was previously for 10 years the parish nurse of the United Church of Christ National Office, where she worked with staff during major transitional periods of restructuring and downsizing. She is currently the parish nurse at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Ohio.
