Funeral arrangements have been finalized for Tracy Halpin, 21, a senior accounting major in the Whitman School, who died Saturday, Jan. 21.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Stevenson Dougherty Funeral Home, 350 Genesee St., Avon, N.Y.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 26, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 108 Prospect St. in Avon.

Contributions are being accepted to the Beta Alpha Psi Honor Society, c/o William Walsh, 616 Whitman School of Management, 721 University Ave., Syracuse, N.Y. 13244; and Focus on the Children, P.O. Box 31, Caledonia, N.Y. 14423.

“My heart goes out to Tracy’s family and friends,” says Chancellor Nancy Cantor. “Losing her so young, just as she was getting ready to move on to the next phase of her life, adds to our sense of sorrow.”

Halpin died Saturday night at Crouse Hospital due to blood clots in her lungs, along with a liver laceration from a fall, according to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A resident of Washington Arms, 621 Walnut Ave., Halpin was observed falling to the ground at about 1:25 p.m. Saturday while walking along Walnut Avenue near the intersection with Waverly Avenue. SU’s Department of Public Safety, SU Ambulance and Rural/Metro Medical Services responded and Halpin was transported to Crouse Hospital.
