The violent death of Simeon Popov was a devastating experience for the Syracuse University community. Many people were affected by this tragedy, especially Simeon’s parents in Sofia, Bulgaria, and his many student friends and instructors here in Syracuse.
The apprehension of the shooting suspect is an important step in moving this sad matter to closure.
The University commends the Syracuse Police Department, the New York Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Office for their diligence in bringing this individual to justice.
