SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

Donald Siegel, earth sciences professor in The College of Arts and Sciences, is featured in a Post-Standard article about the debate over hydrofracking and its regulation in New York State. Retired Syracuse University professors Bryce Hand and Joe Robinson are also mentioned.

A brief report in the Post-Standard’s Moneywise section includes Dan Klamm, outreach and marketing coordinator in SU’s Center for Career for Career Services, among presenters at an upcoming job seminar. Me’Shae Brooks-Rolling, director of special events and public relations in the Burton Blatt Institute and senior administrator in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is quoted.

Peter Verheyen, head of preservation and conservation for the SU Library, and Hannah Frieser, director of Lightwork/Community Darkrooms, are noted in a Post-Standard Stars magazine story as jurors of the Everson Museum of Art’s “Fit to be Bound” exhibition of artists’ books.

A photo of SU’s Mayfest 2010 appeared in the Post-Standard and Syracuse.com hosted a photo gallery of the celebration. In WSYR-TV‘s report, Tony Callisto, chief and director of SU’s Department of Public Safety, was quoted.

The Post-Standard previewed the Syracuse Stage presentation of August Wilson’s “Fences.”

The SU Department of Drama’s production of “I Love You Because” was reviewed in the Post-Standard.

FACULTY QUOTES

John Palmer, University Professor and dean emeritus of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is quoted in an Associated Press article about the new health care law and Medicare.

Leonard Burman, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Professor of Public Affairs in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Washington Post article on the federal deficit, tax expenditures and tax reform.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a Cleveland Plain Dealer story about the decline of CNN host Larry King’s ratings and in a Charlotte Observer story about the area’s Twilight fan convention and vampire ball.

Michael Barkun, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Missoulian article on a “sovereign citizenship” movement involving the takeover of homes and other properties.

William D. Duncombe, professor of public administration in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Post-Standard story on the per-pupil cost for educating high school students in different school districts in Central New York.
