Selina Peh ’27 Named as the 2026-27 Luise and Morton Kaish Fellow
The Syracuse University Art Museum has announced Selina Peh ’27 as the 2026-27 Luise and Morton Kaish Fellow.
The Kaish Fellowship program was established in 2021 through a philanthropic gift from alumni and prominent artists Luise ’46, G’51 and Morton Kaish ’49. The program provides funding for undergraduate students from any discipline to undertake original research rooted in the museum’s permanent collection. Fellows work directly with museum staff on object-based research that forms the basis for a creative or scholarly project, which will be presented at the end of the academic year.
Peh is a fifth-year student majoring in architecture in the School of Architecture and minoring in civil engineering and sustainable construction management in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. She is a member of the Renée Crown University Honors Program and the American Institute of Architecture Students, and has studied abroad in Florence, Italy, and Seoul, South Korea.
Over the course of the academic year, Peh is interested in exploring how Luise and Morton Kaish captured “fleeting moments of beauty” in their artwork and how their approaches might apply to an architect designing space. Peh’s interest in how spaces make people feel goes back to childhood hours spent building worlds in video games like “The Sims” and “Minecraft.” She has paired her architecture degree with minors in civil engineering and sustainable construction management to see the building industry from more than one perspective.
“I’m really grateful for this opportunity to think about the creation of art in a different way,” says Peh. “It’s a shift in mindset to think about how artists think about the world versus how architects think about the world.”
