Syracuse University has launched a search for its next chief people officer and senior vice president for human resources. The role will report directly to Chancellor and President J. Michael Haynie as a member of the senior leadership team.

Before interviews begin, the search committee is inviting the campus community to provide input on what might be needed in this leadership role. Two virtual listening sessions, open to anyone on campus, will be held on Zoom:

• Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 3 to 4 p.m.

Registration is available online, and those who cannot attend may submit input through an online form.

Each session will be led by a committee co-chair along with Korn Ferry, the executive search firm supporting the search. Korn Ferry will facilitate the discussions and record feedback for use in the candidate profile and interview process.

The committee, co-chaired by Terence Lau, dean of the College of Law, and Mary Opperman, senior vice president and University secretary, will present Chancellor Haynie with up to four finalists. The goal is to have the new chief people officer in place by Jan. 1, 2027.
