Sidewalk Closure, One-Day Closure of Forestry Drive Expected in Preparation of Installation of New JMA Wireless Dome Signage
Work is underway on the west side of the JMA Wireless Dome to prepare for installation of new signage on the JMA Dome’s crown truss.
To allow for this continued work, which began in October, the upper sidewalk on the west side of the JMA Dome, between the two sets of stairs, will continue to be closed.
Additionally, the Irving Avenue pull-off (across from Dineen Hall) and the adjacent sidewalk will be closed. This will provide the contractors a safe location to unload and assemble the signage. All pedestrians will be required to use the sidewalk on the west side of Irving Avenue during this time. Accessible pathways to campus will not be affected.
To allow for the assembly and disassembly of the cranes, there will also be required closures of Forestry Drive. The first closure will be tomorrow, Jan. 18, and will last all day.
A second planned closure will occur in February to allow for the crane to be disassembled. Short additional closures may be required to lower the crane to the ground during high wind events. During each of these Forestry Drive closures, other roads on the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry campus will remain open.
Delays in the work may occur as a result of wind, weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event that there is a significant delay, revised information will be issued as soon as possible. Please contact Dave Warren, at 315.632.5238 or dcwarren@syr.edu, with any questions or concerns.
