Winter Weather Update: Please Review for Important Changes to Facility Schedules
[Update: As of 8:10 p.m., the University has announced that all classes will be held online on Monday, Jan. 26. Only essential personnel should report to campus Monday; non-essential employees will work remotely.]
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
The entire state of New York is currently under a State of Emergency, and the Central New York region could experience up to 18 inches of snow based on recent forecasts. Syracuse University is closely monitoring weather conditions, reviewing the most up-to-date National Weather Service forecasts and consulting with an independent meteorologist to determine any necessary changes to our operational status.
The University has not adjusted the operational status for Monday, Jan. 26, at this time; however, the following schedule changes are in effect for Sunday, Jan. 25:
- Libraries will close at 4 p.m.; the Pages Café will not open today.
- Campus transportation (Centro buses and safety escort shuttle) will continue throughout the evening; however, if you do not have to be out, please stay in.
- The Schine Student Center will close at 7:30 p.m.
- The Barnes Center at The Arch will close at 7 p.m.
- Goldstein Student Center on South Campus will close at 7 p.m.
- For the most part, dining halls are operating under regular hours; please check the OrangeNow app for any changes to the schedule.
- The ITS Help Desk will remain open until 7 p.m. as planned.
- The MakerSpace is closed for the day.
- Hendricks Chapel will close at 3 p.m.
The University will continue monitoring conditions and will announce any changes to Monday’s operating schedule via SU WEATHER ALERT through the Orange Alert system. Please confirm your Orange Alert settings are up to date in MySlice to ensure you receive emergency notifications.
