The Syracuse University Course Catalog now has a new look and feel, thanks to a recent redesign spearheaded by the Office of the Registrar in partnership with academic software company CourseLeaf.

With this update, the Course Catalog web address will change to coursecatalog.syracuse.edu. Current links that leverage the redirection site (courses.syracuse.edu) will continue to work as expected in 2025-26, while direct links to coursecatalog.syr.edu will be redirected to the new course catalog home page.

Users of the new Course Catalog will notice an improved navigation and an updated design in keeping with Syracuse University brand guidelines.

Previously text-heavy webpages have been reworked into separate, more scannable pages. Course search now includes more granular, course-specific search functionality, including the ability to search by course attributes. Tabs for important information like student requirements and learning outcomes are also more easily located. And the process of downloading PDF pages is improved.

“This new product elevates our online catalog to a dynamic, user-friendly resource that reflects the evolving needs of our academic community,” says University Registrar Kelly Campbell. “It’s a powerful step toward greater transparency, efficiency and student empowerment.”

Phase two of the redesign will entail improvements to the content management system, making it more user friendly for individuals across campus who contribute to the Course Catalog, Campbell says. The team is also planning on the development of an API (Application Programming Interface) that will allow information from the Course Catalog website to be pushed to other University websites.
