The semester just started. The struggle is real. Getting back into balancing classes, internships, work and a social life might not be as easy as you want it to be.
For some inspiration on getting back into your schedule, we asked one of the new staff therapists in the Counseling Center, Danielle Jones, to share her go-to song when she needs some motivation.
“My song would be Django Jane by Janelle Monáe. It is both inspiring and uplifting to me because it’s a reminder of the power and resilience that exists in me, both internally and externally. To me, it is an unapologetic reclaiming of all who take up space in the ‘margins’ of the world and a reminder that magic insists inside of us, and exudes into the world, despite messages that may attempt to tell us otherwise.”
Let’s all follow Danielle and remember the power and resilience that we have as we settle in for the semester.
If you’re looking for ways to center yourself and start off strong, there are tons of options. Check out the MindSpa, group therapy options, Pacifica and SoulTalk – just to name a few. And remember, you’ve got this!
