4/4 Years: Why I Keep Going Back on the Whitewater Rafting Trip

One of my favorite memories from my freshman year at Cuse is attending the LOOP pre-orientation program. On our way up to the Adirondacks, we stopped at the Adirondack River Outfitters to whitewater raft down the Black River. It was by far my favorite afternoon of the whole program, and I couldn’t wait to do it again! Once I was back on campus, I saw that Recreation Services offered white water rafting day trips throughout the fall for only $30! I (easily) convinced all my friends to join me and now, as a rising senior, I am looking forward to going back for my 4th and final time.

From buses that pick you up at College Place to experienced raft guides to a delicious BBQ lunch on the river, the Adirondack River Outfitters and Recreation Services provide everything you need for a remarkable day. While whitewater rafting with my friends down the river, we navigated some exhilarating drops and laughed the whole way. We especially loved our raft guide, Dan, and made a cheer featuring our team name (“Dan’s Damsels in Distress”) to prove we were the best raft of all. Be warned: the other rafts probably won’t like this and will definitely start a paddle splashing war!

This opportunity from Recreation Services is not only a great way to leap outside your comfort zone, but it is an awesome way to make new friends and have an adventure in a part of New York that is far from campus. For the peanut butter river snacks, our favorite raft guide, Dan, and a river worth of memories that haven’t been made, I can’t wait to go back one last time!
