Sept. 19 Update: Since this post’s publication, University Union announced that Lil Tecca sustained an injury, preventing him from headlining Juice Jam. Headlining in his place is rapper Quavo.
This year is the 20th anniversary of Juice Jam, and the lineup for the annual September concert does not disappoint! Rapper Lil Tecca will headline, and English singer Maisie Peters and rapper Smino will support. Read on for more information about the artists and what to know about attending the concert.
Lil Tecca
Lil Tecca is the stage name of New York City rapper Tyler Sharpe. The 22-year-old burst onto the music scene in 2019 with his hit single, “Ransom,” which has gone platinum eight times. Since then, he has released four albums and amassed nearly 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Lil Tecca will release his fifth album, “PLAN A,” this Friday, so Juice Jam attendees will probably be some of the first to hear the new songs live!
Maisie Peters
The English pop singer-songwriter has made waves in recent months, largely due to opening for mainstream acts like Noah Kahan and Taylor Swift. Her 2023 album, “The Good Witch,” topped the UK charts, and she became the youngest female artist to do so since 2014. Peters is known for her songwriting chops, which are apparent on some of her most popular tunes “The Band and I” and “Lost the Breakup.”
Smino
St. Louis native Christopher Smith Jr. (better known as Smino) made waves in the rap community with his 2017 album, “blkswn.” Lauded for a unique soul-infused rap sound, his music is sure to set the stage for an exciting evening of performances. Since then, he has released three more LPs, including 2022’s “Luv 4 Rent,” which features many big hip-hop artists, including former Syracuse University performers Lil Uzi Vert and Doechii.
The Festival
Before the actual show begins, University Union is celebrating the 20th year of Juice Jam by hosting the first-ever Jamboree! The free event will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, (the day before Juice Jam) on the Quad. The event will include food, merch, activities and DJ sets. Plus, for those who are unable to attend Juice Jam, Jamboree is the perfect way to participate in an exciting weekend on campus.
For those interested in attending Juice Jam on Sept. 22, tickets are now live! Tickets are $20 for Syracuse University and SUNY ESF students with a valid college I.D. and are available for purchase through your MyCuse account. Tickets will also be available at the Box Office until 9 p.m. on the day of Juice Jam. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Happy dancing!
