The LGBT Resource Center: New Space. Same Great Home.

Did you catch the news? The LGBT Resource Center (LGBT RC) on campus has a new, accessible space! You can find the same great people and resources on the fifth floor of Bird Library! So go check it out!

In the meantime, here’s a list of the top four things the LGBT RC has in store for you!

1. Hangout in the living room and do some reading, homework, and/or watch TV! Relax in the new accessible and cozy location! (Again, it’s the fifth floor of Bird!)

2. Join Fusion or Embody! These are closed discussion groups that meet every other week. Fusion is a space for Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPoC), and Embody is a space for trans, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, and gender questioning folks to be in community. For information on dates and how to attend, visit the LGBT Resource Center website.

3. Every third Thursday of the month, the LGBT RC hosts free STI & HIV testing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in partnership with the ACR Health and the Q Center of Syracuse. (If these days/times do not work with you, email the resource center to help arrange alternative accommodations.)

4. Trans Week of Liberation is taking place last week in March! Geena Rocero – Filipino American trans advocate, activist, model and producer – will deliver the commemorative keynote address on Thursday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Slocum 214. Follow the LGBT RC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to stay updated on other events taking place that week!

The SU LGBT Resource Center provides community building, outreach and visibility, and intellectual and leadership development that centers the experience of people with marginalized sexualities and genders. We invite on- and off-campus community members to join us as we seek to understand the ways that privilege and oppression manifest in our society, commit to ending oppression in our communities, and to actively engage in struggles to achieve liberation.
