Thanksgiving break is right around the corner and you can’t wait to spend your week off with your family, friends and beloved pets, eating food that doesn’t come out of a dining hall. Powering through the next few weeks can be difficult, but keeping yourself busy by getting involved with activities on and off campus will make the time breeze by. Here are four activities you can do to before Thanksgiving Break (and some through to winter break, too!).
Apple picking
Apple picking is a staple activity for fall in Central New York, and Syracuse boasts of some of the best apple orchards in the state. And it’s not too late! The closest orchard is just under three miles from Syracuse’s campus. Don’t forget to pick up an apple cider donut when you go!
Orange After Dark Events
There are tons of activities right on Syracuse’s campus. From late night movies to glow skating, Orange After Dark has something for everyone. Some events require tickets, but most are free for anyone with an SUID.
Explore Downtown Syracuse
Just a short walk past Syracuse’s campus, downtown Syracuse is a must-see. Original restaurants line the busy streets and most weekends, you can find a street fair being hosted at Amory Square. While the city doesn’t slow down for anything (including snow!), it’s definitely worth a visit before the cold weather really hits!
Melo Center Open Rec Nights
From 8 to 11 p.m. on Thursdays in the fall, students can use the basketball courts in the Melo Center for pick-up basketball. The open nights end November 15, so get your friends together for before the break for some friendly competition!
