Coming in hot are the Fall 2018 Outdoor Adventure Trips hosted by Rec Services! Whether you are an avid hiker ready to brave the trails or a shut-in looking to grab some precious Vitamin D, the Outdoor Adventure Trips have options for everyone. With your SU ID, the cost is cheap, transportation is free, and you can build some great Insta content.
White Water Rafting
It’s hot, like REALLY hot in Syracuse right now. As someone from the dry heat of California, I sometimes feel like I’m swimming through this humidity. But luckily, white water rafting is a great cure for all your why-does-nothing-have-air-conditioning woes. For $30 you get a four hour trip on The Black River in Watertown with transportation, equipment, and a full BBQ dinner included. You’ll cool off, get in arm day, and catch some sweet waves.
Normal cost: ~:$60/person just for rafting, so basically 50% off
Apple Picking
New York City isn’t the only Big Apple of New York. There’s actually lots in the orchards all across the state. Lucky for us, the some of the best apple orchards in the country are right next door to campus! You really haven’t had apples until you’ve picked one yourself from their orchards. So grab your friends, arm your Instagram, and join the Apple Picking craze. For $5 you get transportation there so you can access all the sweet, sweet apples and food. Did I mention there’s lots of food? Including fresh apple anything you could want? Oh, and also, flannels. Lots and lots of flannels.
Normal cost: An uber fare there and back of like $45 and the headache of trying to organize multiple cars for you and your pals
There is also a downhill mountain biking series (register by Sept. 12!) and horseback riding coming your way this fall semester. Check back in with the Rec Services website to fuel your adventurous spirit.
