With the upcoming Wellness Day on Wednesday, April 21, there are a few reminders that students should remember when taking part in activities during this break. On this day, no classes will be held, no assignments will be due, and no exams will be administered. You may be wondering what to do on this day off? There’s a ton going on again, so be sure to explore the University Community Calendar. Here are a few additional ideas on what to do with your Wellness Day!

Remember to follow the Stay Safe Pledge!

Even though we have a day off, we still need to respect the guidelines in place by SU and Central New York. Remember to limit gatherings to 10 people, wear a mask, and be sure to stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Spend time outside.

With the warm weather approaching us, there are many opportunities to spend time outside on our beautiful campus and the surrounding neighborhood! Have a picnic in Walnut Park, watch the sunset at Thornden Park, or even do some homework on the promenade! Whether you’re just going on a walk around campus with your roommate or taking advantage of the gym and fitness classes offered at the Barnes Center at The Arch, there are many opportunities here on campus to get your body moving!

Get off campus.

There are so many beautiful spots to explore in the SU community! Consider a visit to:

  • Green Lakes State Park
  • Skaneateles
  • CNY Regional Market

Catch up on sleep!

Although this seems like an obvious, we sometimes forget the importance of resting and getting a good night’s sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep does not only benefit you physically but it improves your mood and your ability to concentrate. Take this day off as an opportunity to sleep a few hours in!

Practice mindfulness.

Although practicing wellness in our bodies is important, it is even more important to practice wellness in our minds. Fortunately, the Barnes Center has a variety of services to assist with mindfulness practice.
