Syracuse University is proud to highlight the outstanding academic achievements and civic engagement efforts of our students.

Throughout the academic year, hundreds of Syracuse University students receive distinctive honors and awards. In order to recognize these students for making the most of their college experience, the Office of News Services may write news stories for the SU News website and, when warranted, distribute a press release to a student’s hometown newspaper.

Press releases and announcements can be distributed for students who:

  • bring the vision of Scholarship in Action to life by participating in innovative, substantive engagement projects in Syracuse or elsewhere in the world;
  • are named University Scholars, Remembrance Scholars or academic fellows; or
  • receive academic honors such as Dean’s List.

Do you have an achievement you would like to publicize or a story idea for us?

To have a hometown news release issued by the Office of News Services, students should complete the Student News submission form. A valid student NetID is required. The form should contain the name of the local news organization to be contacted and the accomplishment to be promoted.Please note: Dean’s List announcements are no longer sent automatically. To have a Dean’s List announcement sent to a local newspaper or news website, students should submit a request form to the Office of News Services.

To submit a story idea for coverage by SU News or local news outlets, please email sunews@syr.edu with “student news” in the subject line.
