Ken Marfilius is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Social Work in Falk College. He also serves as the Director of the Falk College Office of Online and Distance Education.
Marfilius’s areas of interest include social work intervention, military culture and social work practice, and psychopathology. He also specializes in military mental health, veteran social work, homelessness, and suicide prevention.
While on active duty from 2012 to 2016, Marfilius served in the U.S. Air Force Biomedical Science Corps in multiple roles including active duty clinical social worker, mental health therapist, family advocacy officer in charge, and manager of the alcohol and drug prevention and treatment program. After serving, Marfilius worked in a variety of mental health roles related to sexual assault prevention and response, suicide prevention, and traumatic stress at the Barksdale Air Force Base. He is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of North Carolina and is certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy.
Prior to his full time appointment at Syracuse University, Marfilius served as the School of Social Work’s Undergraduate Program Director and a Visiting Teaching Professor in Falk College’s School of Social Work.
