Newhouse Newspaper Expert Comments on Sale of LA Times

Steve Davis, associate professor in the newspaper and online journalism program in the Newhouse School, is quoted in the Associated Press following the sale of the LA Times and San Diego Union-Tribune to biotech billionaire, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. Davis says Soon-Shiong’s limited history in journalism makes it hard to know what the future holds for newsrooms at those outlets.

“Some people might think this could be the white knight, the savior, but nobody knows that,”  Steve Davis tells AP reporter, Brian Melley. “All they know is that it’s a change, that it’s somebody new who says the right things.”
