Pop Culture Expert Robert Thompson Explains TV Soundtrack Trend

Trustee Professor and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture Robert Thompson spoke about this with BBC, commenting on the new trend.
“TV theme songs are certainly getting more sophisticated,” Thompson said in the interview. “Stating with HBO which has its extraordinarily lush opening theme credits, and now with all the streaming services and everything, there is certainly a sense that the music is more sophisticated.”
