New Lighting around Women’s Building to Enhance Visibility and Safety
The Office of Campus Planning, Design and Construction (CPDC) and the team in Physical Plant say they will perform lighting work near the Women’s Building that will result in enhanced visibility and safety for pedestrians.
As a result of those efforts, areas of the sidewalk near the building will be closed over the next three weeks. Pedestrians will be directed by signage during the projects.
Please click on the adjacent map to review the sidewalk closures and dates.
The first phase of the two-phase project begins today and will take a week to complete, weather permitting. Pedestrians will be restricted from accessing the north side and a small portion of the west side of the Women’s Building. Signage will be placed at the walkway at the Comstock Avenue junction and the southwest corner of the building.
The second phase will start on or about Tuesday, Nov. 7, and take about two weeks. Pedestrian traffic will be restricted from the southwest corner of the Women’s Building North Lot to the College Place and Euclid Avenue intersection. It will also restrict pedestrian traffic from using the stairs leading to and from Mount Olympus Drive.
Signage will be placed at the Comstock Avenue/Mount Olympus Drive sidewalk intersection and the Women’s Building North Lot/Mount Olympus Drive intersection informing pedestrians of the restrictions ahead.
The sidewalks will be open during the following campus planned events:
- Football game on Nov. 11
- Basketball games on Nov. 1, 6, 10 and 14
