Summer Construction Information Sessions Announced; Campus Community Invited to Participate
As the Division of Campus Planning, Design and Construction (CPDC) tackles more than 120 summer improvement projects, Syracuse University today announced a series of information sessions to update the campus community about all of the ongoing activity.
Community members interested in participating are invited to attend one or more of the following information sessions:
- Wednesday, June 15
- Wednesday, June 29
- Wednesday, July 13
- Wednesday, July 27
- Wednesday, Aug. 10
All information sessions will be held at 9:30 a.m. in Lyman Auditorium (Room 132). Each session will begin with a brief update on current construction efforts and will then be opened up for discussion and questions.
CPDC leaders will facilitate the information sessions. American Sign Language (ASL) and Communication Access Real Time (CART) interpretation will be available for each event. Some of the projects currently underway this summer include:
- renovations, including flooring, finishes and bathroom renovations in Haven, Flint and DellPlain halls;
- improvements to the exterior of the Center of Science and Technology;
- the Shaw Quad Improvement project that will add permanent tent tie downs and add in power and data capability to tents during events, and an irrigation system to maintain the lawn; and
- the University Place Promenade project that will convert the roadway into a pedestrian promenade, connecting the areas in front of Bird Library, Schine Student Center and the Newhouse School complex and include replacement of a nearly 100-year-old water main that runs beneath University Place.
