The award will be presented on Sunday, May 1, during CNY Jazz’s 20th anniversary concert with special guest Janis Siegel. The concert starts at 5 p.m. and will be held in the grand ballroom of the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center, 801 University Ave. For tickets and more information, visit http://www.cnyjazz.org.

Since coming to Syracuse University in 1997, Coggiola has conducted jazz ensembles, including the Morton Schiff Jazz Ensemble, and taught jazz improvisation, jazz pedagogy and history of jazz, as well as courses in music cognition and issues in music education, technology and research. He maintains an active schedule as an adjudicator and guest conductor for both concert bands and jazz ensembles at regional music festivals throughout the northeastern United States.

Established in 1996, the CNY Jazz Arts Foundation is the primary year-round provider of jazz and American music presentations for the public and for schools across the entire Upstate New York region.
