‘Pennies at the Quarters’ Opens at SALTQuarters Gallery
SALTQuarters Gallery will present “Pennies at the Quarters,” an immersive solo-exhibition by SALTQuarters artist in residence and Syracuse University alumnus Brendan Rose. Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 7-9 p.m., for the exhibition opening and to meet the artist. Running for ONE WEEK ONLY, the gallery will also be open Feb. 8-13 from 1-6 p.m. for visitors to experience the installation.
For this exhibition, Rose created a space-altering installation composed of colorful fields created by 10,000 pennies. “Pennies at the Quarters” is informed by contemporary trends in art installation that utilize the suspension of objects within a gallery space to evoke conversation. At its core, the installation is inspired by the resilient beauty of Syracuse’s Near Westside neighborhood in the face of economic challenges. Rose hopes the pennies can inspire deliberation about the real and perceived values of beauty within the city.
