The New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) will celebrate the installation of its Hall of Fame at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a panel discussion and special ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
The panel discussion, “Careers in Broadcasting: Tomorrow’s Local Wireless Media,” will be held at 4 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Panelists include legendary sportscaster Len Berman ’68; Dave Davis, president and general manager of WABC-TV in New York City; Ed Levine ’78, CEO of Galaxy Communications; Deon Levingston, vice president and general manager of Emmis Communications; Marvin Scott, news anchor at WPIX-TV in New York City; Norm Silverstein, president and CEO of WXXI Public Broadcasting Council; and Theresa Underwood, vice president and general manager of WSYR-TV in Syracuse.
The panel will be followed by an opening ceremony and reception in the atrium of Newhouse 2, near Dick Clark Studios. The Hall of Fame will be installed in the hallway adjacent to the atrium, and will include portraits of 83 inductees.
The ceremony will include remarks from NYSBA president David Donovan; Newhouse Dean Lorraine Branham; and Levine.
“We are honored to have the New York State Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame located at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University,” says Donovan. “It will connect the legends of broadcasting with tomorrow’s leaders. I want to thank Dean Branham for all her efforts in making this wonderful event possible.”
