Career Services to Recruit Student Ambassadors
Career Services, within the Division of Student Affairs, is launching the application for the second cohort of student ambassadors for the 2014-2015 academic year. Students can apply through OrangeLink (Job ID #61131). The deadline for applying is July 1.
The Student Ambassador Program is a volunteer student group developed to increase student involvement in employer relations programs and activities within Career Services. Student ambassadors play a key role in on-campus employer relations activities by publicizing and promoting office events, participating in workshops and providing feedback on the programs and services offered by Career Services. The program involves enthusiastic students from diverse majors and years.
“I’ve been going to Career Services for career advice since my freshman year at SU. The staff members are so supportive of student endeavors and truly care about helping students land their dream jobs and internships,” says Maryann Akinboyewa ’15, a student ambassador since August 2013.
“I wanted to be involved because I wanted to share my positive experiences with Career Services with other students,” says Akinboyewa. “The most rewarding part of my work as an ambassador is the opportunity to speak and interact with other students on campus. These experiences have helped me further develop my leadership skills.”
Besides connecting with other students and making them aware of the resources available to them through Career Services, the ambassadors also benefit from a professional network of the greater University community and thousands of employers across the country.
“Student Ambassadors will develop their own network by connecting with employers and other professional staff on campus,” says Sue Casson, associate director of employer relations at Career Services.
Students of all years and majors are encouraged to apply through OrangeLink with a resume and a cover letter explaining why they are interested. Career Services encourages all departments and colleges to recommend this opportunity to students that would be excellent candidates.
