Open Seminar Talk by Corey Robin: ‘Being a Public Intellectual: It’s Easier—and Harder—Than You Think’
You are invited to attend an open seminar talk, sponsored by the Department of English and the College of Arts and Sciences, to be held on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. in 304 Tolley. Prof. Robin will draw from his wide knowledge of academics whose successful blogs and online interventions have helped shape the public discussion of politics and the arts. His talk and the ensuing discussion will address the role of public intellectuals in the U.S. today, and will include concrete suggestions to graduate students and faculty interested in publishing public scholarship pieces.
Robin is professor of political science at Brooklyn College and the CUNY Graduate Center. He is the author of “The Reactionary Mind: Conservatism from Edmund Burke to Sarah Palin.” He has written many articles and reviews for mass circulation publications, and has won the Cliopatria Award and the Charm Quark Award for Best Blog Writing in 2011.
