Fifty Staff Members to Walk for SU in Saturday’s Heart Walk
Fifty SU staff members have signed up to walk for the SU team in this Saturday’s Heart Walk. The walk will take place at the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College at 10 a.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m.
It’s not too late to sign up for the Heart Walk. Any staff person who wants to walk with the SU team should contact Peg Northrup at firstname.lastname@example.org or 315-443-5303.
In association with the Heart Walk, SU’s Heart Walk Committee has conducted a Fifty Days of Fitness campaign, which raised $13,000 for the Heart Association through individual staff fundraising and the sale of paper hearts and Go Red pins.
On the fitness side, many employees participated in the pedometer fitness program. The total steps logged were 5.45 million, equaling 2,727 miles. The leading pedometer team, University College, logged 3.24 million steps. Representative Eileen Jevis will be presented with a trophy on Saturday at the Heart Walk. The top fundraiser will get an award that day as well.
